FALL 2005 NEWSLETTER
Fall -moving into the Yin time of year, a time of rest and
introspection. A time for Taiji, qigong, meditation and all
forms of internal training. In the West a time of beginnings,
too. So now is a fine time to begin or return to these practices
and trainings at Peaceful Wolf T'ai Chi Ch'uan.
As life, hopefully, begins to slow down a little you can
begin to focus more time for yourself and the practices that
will enhance your life. Finding the peace and satisfaction
that come from the consistent practice of our internal arts.
This may constitute a change for you which is quite appropriate
since that is the core of our philosophy ? that life is made
up of constant change. Each day is an opportunity to do just
that. Often we are aware that the previous day was not all
that we might have liked it to be. But follow another of our
precepts and let go. It is past. Today, in your present
moment, you have control and can do whatever is best for you.
Now you can make this day whatever you wish it to be within
the scope of your abilities. Don't forget the Big Rock Story.
Choose what is important and put it in first!
This does lead me to think about Master Jou's "Principles
for the Practice of the Internal Arts?" It is such good
guidance in almost every situation.
"Know Yourself" - Actually work towards self realization.
Let go of excessive attachments so that you can be focused
on the path of your training and growth towards good health,
rejuvenation, longevity and enlightenment. Your path is the
same whether your focus is health, martial ability spirituality
or all three.
"Do Your Best" - Actually do your absolute very
best at each moment.
"But Don't Overdo" - This is equally important
since doing too much or doing any practice to excess will
be counterproductive just as doing too little will fail to
move you along your path of development.
"Make a Little Progress each Day" - Which you will
do if you practice regularly. Once in a while we have a day
of great progress or insight but most of the time it is in
such small increments that we can hardly see it. Yet if we
look back over the weeks, months and years we can see how
much we have grown - a little each day.
So change with each season and flow with those changes. Flow
with the changes in your life and enhance it all by maintaining
your daily focus on your path and it?s practice. Make a little
progress each day and celebrate it with joy.

Remember last year when our school looked like this? You
should see it now! It is really wonderful. Still needs some
landscaping but we have come a long way. The energy is powerful
and positive. You feel good just being here.
If you have a little time on Saturday, September 24th come
and help us complete a few remaining details. We will start
around 10:30 following the Advanced Class.
UPCOMING WORKSHOPS
October 15th and 22nd David will teach the Intermediate Yin Yang
Medical Qigong of Master Jiang, Jian-ye. This is a powerful
tool for maintaining and improving health. It is considerably
more complex than the Beginning level since it is comprised
of more advanced practices. May be taken separately or to
complete the qigong requirement for advancement to Intermediate
2 level in our T?ai Chi training.
November 4, 5 & 6 Dr. Jay Dunbar will be returning to
teach a workshop on the I Ching (The Book of Changes). This
book is particularly important for anyone studying or practicing
a Chinese martial, spiritual or healing art. It is equally
important to Taoists, Confucians and Buddhists. These workshops
are open to anyone who is interested not only Taiji or qigong
students. It is being presented in three parts which may be
participated in independently. Please read the information
carefully on our website or paper flyer if you have one.
There will be another Wei Qigong training and practice this
Fall. I'll send out a notice when we set a date.
We have just completed the introductory Push Hands workshops
which are required in order to join the ongoing Wednesday
night class with Jonas Sanchez.
That class continues and everyone finds their whole practice
of Taiji changing and growing as a result. I?ll send an announcement
when the introductory workshops are going to be offered again.
I hope you all have wonderful holiday season .
