Peaceful Wolf T'ai Chi Ch'uan

Spring 2008 Newsletter

Once again Dr. Jay Dunbar has inspired us to continue on our T'ai Chi path. "The Search for the Peach Blossom Spring" workshop lead us to explore the meaning of immortality for each of us. Whatever our interpretation of that word, our practice can lead ,at least, to a healthier longevity and possibly spiritual enlightenment. The tale of the Peach Blossom Spring reminds us that the road is a long one and we need to keep focused on our path in order to not lose our way

Peach Blossom Spring by Wen, Zheng Ming

As you flow down that road remember you are never alone:

"Approach your practice of T'ai Chi Ch'uan with a
mixture of awe, respect and love. Realize that
people have been doing the same movements
that you are now doing for at least twenty genera-
tions, and every time you start, the cumulative
greatness of this art is expressed through you.
You are the forward edge of a wave that is moving
endlessly forward, pushed by the entire ocean of
past experience."

Michael Gilman

Enjoy the ride!

UPCOMING CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

QIGONG CLASSES

Two premier qigong practices are available this session. Beginners can join either class even though you have not been in the class previously. Wuqin Qigong - The Five Animal Frolics - comes from Hua To in the third century. It is a core qigong practice that is used both for health maintenance and treatment of health problems. Shiba Luohan Gong - Eighteen Luohan Qigong" - Comes from the Shaolin Temple. It is believed to have been the first practice taught to the monks by Bodhidharma when he came from India in the fifth century.

CLASSICS CLASS
This session we will begin the study of "Taijiquan Lun" (The Taijiquan Treatise) by Zhang, San Feng. This class will meet on twelve Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. starting April 1st. See Flyer.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS
STEPHEN WATSON will be here April 20th. He will teach two workshops that day. In the first, Zip, Zero, Zilch - Nothing 101, Stephen will explore the fundamental necessity of nothing Attendees will learn to find, nurture, experience, allow and return to a state of supreme possibility. The second is called Diagnosis, Healing, Dance, and Self Defense. Exploring the intersection of these four will be "the most fun you can have on two feet". So come have a fun day of exploration with Stephen Watson.

THE 10th WORLD T'AI CHI AND QIGONG DAY will be April 26th this year. Once again we will be at the Waterford Beach Park where the event has been held for the last few years. This is a wonderful time to come and play with our Taiji brothers and sisters from other schools, to see wonderful demonstrations of other styles and forms and to have the opportunity to take workshops with other teachers. Bring family and friends and enjoy this day. Help us celebrate ten years of World T'ai Chi Day

The Fall SAN SHOU INTENSIVE with Dr. Jay Dunbar and Kathleen Cusick will be August 21 - 25, Thursday thru Sunday this year. Talk to David or one of the senior students who do San Shou about the value of this training. It will change your T'ai Chi in the most positive ways. Mark your calendars now!

Come join us this spring at our school in the woods!
